Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed needs a truck!

We are a citizen-based 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to "engage individuals, businesses and communities in protecting and improving the lakes ponds and streams of the Cobbossee Watershed."

Located in Kennebec County, Maine, our programs focus on educating the public and initiating collaborative conservation projects that benefit water quality.

FOCW:
  • Works to prevent, locate and remove invasive aquatic plants. We need a truck to haul removed invasive plants and the boats and equipment used in removing these unwanted plants.
  • Strives to Slow the Flow of polluted storm water runoff by providing landscaping advice and assisting in shoreline stabilization projects. We need a truck to haul the equipment used in projects protecting the shoreline, such as wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels and plants.
  • Provides educational opportunities that focus on watershed ecology and the connections between human actions and water quality. We need a truck to haul our 22' pontoon boat, the OTTER II, to lakes throughout the watershed. The OTTER II serves as a "floating classroom" upon which hundreds of participants learn how to test water quality and protect the lake ecosystem.
While we are very thankful to area dealerships that have allowed us to temporarily use a truck in the past, the expansion of our efforts necessitates the use of a vehicle full time, and year round.

Any donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated! Together, we can make this happen!!!
